Wenn wir Leichtathleten uns Ziele stecken, dann setzen wir alles daran, diese auch zu erreichen. Das bedeutet monatelanges Training bei jedem Wetter, Entbehrungen und in manchen Fällen auch, viele Wochenenden dem Sport zu widmen.
Am Ende warten im besten Fall neue persönliche Bestleistungen und Chancen auf die Teilnahme an immer höheren Wettkämpfe, neue Konkurrenten und Konkurrentinnen, aber auch neue Freundschaften und Erfahrungen. Und umso schöner wird die Erfahrung, wenn man, wie Josina Papenfuß, zwei Jahre für diesen Moment gearbeitet hat.
Genau dieser Moment war für sie am vergangenen Wochenende gekommen – mit den Deutschen Meisterschaften in Mönchengladbach. Nachdem eine Verletzung ihre Teilnahme an der U16 DM im letzten Jahr verhindert hatte, konnte sie nach hartem Training dieses Jahr endlich ihre erste Freiluftmeisterschaft auf nationaler Ebene antreten.
Nach der Anreise am Donnerstag und einer Nacht im Hotel, begann der Wettkampf am Freitag mit dem 3000 Meter Finale der weiblichen U18. Leider musste der Start durch eine schwerere, aber nicht lebensbedrohliche Verletzung beim Stabhochsprung um über eine Stunde verschoben werden, alle Läuferinnen mussten sich nach dem Aufwärmen wieder auf eine längere Wartezeit einstellen.
Josina taktisch klug
Gegen 20 Uhr konnte der Wettkampf dann fortgesetzt werden und das Finale über 3000 Meter starten. Als der Startschuss endlich fiel, lief das große Feld mit 26 Athletinnen zwar zügig los, aber nach einer halben Stadionrunde wollte niemand mehr richtig Tempo machen. In der Folge entstand ein dichtes Feld, in dem sich alle Läuferinnen gegenseitig beäugten.
Taktisch klug konnte sich Josina meist irgendwo zwischen der vierten und achten Position etwas außen aufhalten und von den größten Schubsereien fernbleiben. Aber als 600 Meter vor Schluss immer noch das langsame Tempo vorherrschte, ergriff sie die Initiative und verschärfte erstmals das Tempo.
Jetzt zog sich das Feld auseinander, nicht mehr viele konnten folgen. Beim Eintritt in die letzte Runde nahmen dann die beiden Favoritinnen Lisa Vogelgesang und Lisa Oed endlich die Beine in die Hand, woraus ein wilder Sprint über die letzten 400 Meter entstand.
Das Feld war nun endgültig gesprengt, die Medaillenplätze schnell an die Favoritinnen vergeben. Dahinter jedoch kämpfte Josina noch um eine gute Platzierung und eine möglichst schnelle Zeit, was sie sich auch beides im furiosen Schlussspurt holte: Platz 5 mit 10:11,35 Minuten bedeutet eine Verbesserung um 15 Sekunden und eine Top-Platzierung mit Siegerehrung!
Die Freude war außerordentlich groß und die Ehrung ein tolles Erlebnis, dennoch waren alle Gedanken schon auf den morgigen Tag gerichtet, an dem der Vorlauf über 1500 Meter in der älteren Altersklasse U20 anstand. Ein Start über dieselbe Strecke in der U18 hätte bedeutet, dass der Vorlauf ebenfalls noch am Freitag gewesen wäre, die Doppelbelastung wollten wir vermeiden. So ging es nach einer Massage und einem Besuch beim Italiener zeitig ins Hotel.
Ausflug in die U20
Der Vorlauf über 1500 Meter fand zur Mittagszeit statt, Josina war im ersten von zwei Vorläufen gesetzt. Die Konkurrentinnen waren den Meldezeiten nach als stark einzuschätzen und die Chance auf eine Finalteilnahme war klein. Aber je nach Rennverlauf konnte sich vielleicht noch etwas ergeben.
Die beiden Sieger und die zehn Zeitschnellsten würden sich qualifizieren, daher schlugen die Läuferinnen von Beginn an ein hohes Tempo an. Josina biss sich im Rennverlauf an dem Hauptfeld fest und ging das hohe Tempo mit. Erst im Schlusssprint musste sie ein wenig abreißen lassen, konnte aber die siebte Position verteidigen und mit 4:41,75 Minuten eine neue persönliche Bestzeit aufstellen.
Wie viel diese Zeit wert war, würden wir nach dem zweiten Vorlauf wissen, den wir direkt im Anschluss von der Tribüne verfolgten. Hier schlug Favoritin Alina Reh wie erwartet von Beginn an ein so hohes Tempo an, dem niemand folgen konnte. Das Hauptfeld dahinter taktierte mehr und erreichte knapp nicht die Zwischenzeiten, die Josina abgeliefert hatte, war aber immer noch in der Lage das Tempo zu verschärfen, womit es weiter spannend blieb.
Nach einem knappen Kilometer besannen die Läuferinnen sich dann auch darauf, dass die Zeit vielleicht zu langsam war und zogen das Tempo an. In der Folge verloren einige den Anschluss und größere Lücken taten sich auf, jetzt kam alles darauf an, wie viele eine schnellere Zeit als Josina laufen würden.
Neue Bestzeit und Quali
Als dann endlich das offizielle Ergebnis auf der Anzeigetafel stand, war die Freude bei uns riesengroß: Josina hatte sich mit der Zeit als Zehnte für das Finale qualifiziert! Ein gewaltiger Erfolg als einzige U18 Athletin in der zwei bis drei Jahre älteren Konkurrenz.
Nach einer Massagesitzung beim Physio ließen wir den Nachmittag dann im Stadion ausklingen und verfolgten die weiteren Entscheidungen des Tages. Den Abschluss des Tages gab es bei Nudeln im Restaurant, dann ging es wieder auf das Hotelzimmer.
Das Finale fand am Sonntag um 12:05 Uhr statt. Die Aufregung war nun nicht mehr so groß wie am Vortag, die Freude auf das Rennen und über die Erfüllung des kleinen Traums, mit Alina Reh in einem Finale zu stehen, dafür umso größer.
Nach 200 Meter nahm diese dann auch wieder Reißaus, dahinter hielt sich Josina im Hauptfeld auf, das mit hohem Tempo folgte. Als kurz vor Schluss der Kampf um Silber und Bronze begann, nahm Josina die Geschwindigkeit mit auf und ließ zwei Konkurrentinnen hinter sich. Sie verteidigte diese Position bis zum Schluss und wurde Zehnte in erneut neuer persönlicher Bestleistung von 4:40,98 Minuten.
Damit hatte Josina in drei Läufen drei neue persönliche Bestleistungen erzielt und mit einem fünften und einem zehnten Platz insgesamt zwei Top-Ten Platzierungen bei Deutschen Meisterschaften erreicht. Erfolgreicher hätte das Wochenende nicht sein können!
